- Well, that's a good question. The inspiration for my English name comes from my favorite book, Leo Tolstoy's masterpiece, War and Peace. Pierre and Andre(i) are the two figures that have influenced me most in this book.

My answer is probably surprising: Yes and No. When I was a kid, I spent quite a long time with my grandmom who only speaks a recondite tongue, Baiyangtian Dialect, specific to a small town in my city. Influenced by her, my first language is a dialect, not Mandarin. Later on, I received all my pre-college education in local public schools that teach everything in Mandarin. My Mandarin does progress a lot in this immersive environment, but I still have an accent - which I call "a sweet legacy."
